Is your property suitable for a solar PV installation?
To find out if your property is suitable drag and drop the marker onto the roof of your house.
Thank you, your enquiry has been successfully processed and one of our team will be in contact with you shortly.
The sun has helped to sustain previous generations for millions of years, providing much needed energy for plants and crops. But the ability to use the Sun’s energy to create electricity has only recently been developed.
Less than 1 percent of the sun’s energy is enough to meet all of our power needs many times over.
A solar photovoltaic (PV) module is made using materials that can create an electric charge using the sun’s rays. This electric charge can then be fed to a cable and converted to the correct energy that can be used in your home.
Wind powerThe wind has been used as an energy source for over 4,000 years. It was used by the Babylonians and Chinese to pump water to irrigate crops. Windmills were used to grind corn in the Middle Ages and before that, wind power was used to power sailing boats.
The UK, being the windiest country in Europe, could power our country several times over using this renewable energy resource.
Wind turbines are now designed to run nonstop for over 20 years. That’s 120,000 hours. Small scale wind turbine generators can be combined with a solar PV system to provide a virtually continuous electricity supply.
Turbines are often the key to creating electricity, so we can use anything that will make one turn.
Moving water can be used, such as rivers, tides, waves. Creating steam will also move a turbine, so thermal power can be used, such as naturally occurring hot rocks and the sun’s heat.
