In addition to the FIT cuts, from 31st March 2012, all households wishing to install solar panels will also require an Energy Performance Certificate Level D to qualify, which can be a costly process. For further information, please see our ‘What is an EPC?’ page. Last orders accepted 01/03/2012.
Important Solar Update
The Government’s appeal regarding the cuts to the Feed In Tariff was heard on 25/01/12 by the Court of Appeal and rejected for the third time.
The Government has announced its intentions to take the case to the Supreme Court which could now take up to 12 months to be heard.
This means that customers installing solar panels by March 3rd could be entitled to the 43.3p FIT for the full 25 years if the Supreme Court rejects the Government’s appeal as the High Court and three appeal judges have already done.
SDS is accepting orders for the March 3rd 2012 deadline until 12th February 2012* to maximise your chances of receiving the higher FIT rate.
Until the Supreme Court hearing takes place, customers will receive the 21p FIT rate from their solar panel installation.
The additional deadline of 31st March 2012 implemented by the Government, means consumers wishing to install solar panels will require a Level D Energy Performance Certificate to receive FIT payments.
To ensure that you have time for installation before the EPC deadline of the 31st March 2012, you will need to have ordered your Solar Panels by the 1st March 2012*.
* all orders are subject to availability and are based on a first come first served basis. Availability dependent upon location of installation and installation of system before the 31st March 2012 deadline.
